Art S,

Neither Tom or I own the car, I am simply restoring it for a friend/customer of mine and Tom's. Shaughnesy has been kind enough to allow me to use his new facility for disassembly and reassembly of the car and has offered his expert advise/connections to allow the car to be all that it can be.

Art thank you for the welcome! I feel the need to get back to the Paris show, sorry for my late response. For those of you who do not have the Osprey book their is not only a photo but copy that supports 2169GT being at the show in 1960. I have enclosed a scan of page 33 which explains how 2043GT and 2169GT came to be at the show.

Kare in response to your explanation of the photo I would have to disagree with your analysis. The photo is not completely overexposed. The white wall will only reflect into the side of the car that is facing it, not the side of the car that is facing the camera which is the side of the car we are seeing. Also notice that you can make out all detailing within the car on the camera side like the door handle, window trim and pininfarina logo. If the photo was overexposed on the camera side we would not see any of this detail. The highlight in the drivers side corner panel is do to the heavy mica flake in the paint and overhead lighting and this is what is causing such a hot spot in the car. Yes the white wall is bright as it is white but one can still make out the chairs along the back wall next to the rear of the car.

Zac thanks for the photos and the update…

Art S.

Unfortunately no that is Scott Oshry's car at the Strawberry Farms show last year. My car is still in process but I have promised the kids it will be done this year.

I spent a few more hours on the GTE today mostly taking pictures and labeling wiring before I removed it from the car. I don't know if the pictures I took today are of much interest they are mostly just for detail, and to remember where everything goes. I was surprised at what a pain it is to get the harness out in one piece without cutting or altering it to much, I really like to keep them as intact as possible so that when I make the new one everything goes where it is supposed too.

I was also wondering if anyone has used this kit http://uscartool.com/img/Rottiskit/
it is a rotisserie kit less the large steel and just needs to be welded. The kit uses what I guess are basically automotive wheel hubs to turn on and some nifty little laser cut plates for indexing. In the past I have fabricated from scratch but this looks like a real time saver.

Bryan thank you for the welcome and the nice words regarding my 365. I love pictures so here are some more. I have had the car for a few years now but Zac is the one who really completed it and the reason why it looks as good as it does. Also a thanks to Tom for the parts!

Scott,

That is a one of a kind beautiful car you have there. Newer than new looking. I keep going back over the photos.

My brother owns a 365 2+2 as well. s/n 13681.

Even if it would be nice to be able to determine the color of the car in the photo, it can't be done. The destination listed in factory records does not prove the car was sent to Paris and I suspect Owen just quoted the records, which would mean his claim has no further value. Many cars were destined for motor shows, but replaced for a reason or another. Take 0717SA in Paris Salon of 1957 (replaced with 0715SA) and 0323EU in Stockholm Motor Show of 1954 (replaced with "340 Mille Miglia" 0238A) as examples. We just have to be patient and wait for more matierial to surface. Best wishes, Kare
