Ferrari 330GTC Hot Start Issue

I had a 330GTC that nearly kicked my butt trying to chase down a hot start issue, and it turned out to be a bad condenser! The car would start great when cold, ran strong, but after about 30 minutes of driving and idling in the driveway, the car would start to stumble and misfire. If I didn’t keep the revs up, the engine would stall and the car would refuse to restart. The starter would turn over, but there seemed to be a weak spark. At first I suspected voltage drop at the fuse panel, or coil connections. I also checked the coils by swapping them out, but the problem persisted. I finally came to the conclusion it was the condensers and a test on my Sun Distributor machine confirmed it!

Leakage test is off the chart.

A properly functioning condenser should read on the other side of the scale.

Series resistance was not great either.
With two good condensers installed, the hot start issue went away and I was happy to send this Ferrari home knowing it was reliable and wouldn’t be affected by a hot day!
