Green GTC Details III

I got the correct exhaust tips welded onto the exhaust on the green GTC, but before I installed it, I had to remove the wrinkle paint that was incorrectly applied previously.

It was only on the rear sections, but I had to decide the most efficient way to remove it before appying new paint.

I ended up sanding off the paint since we had our last several days of warm weather outside in the Northeast!

As I was hanging the exhaust, I noticed the hangers were looking a little to crusty, so I called my regular supplier to order a new set.

What arrived was incorrect for a show car. If you look closely, these hangers have a hollow pop rivet securing the rubber pieces together. There are obviously two versions available, and when the order was filled, they sent the incorrect hangers. When I complained, I was given a return authorization, and sent the correct ones.

The correct ones have a solid rivet and if a judge knows to spot the mistake, it’s a potential deduction. This may not mean a lot to people not building a show car, but is still important to get the right parts when you order them! They cost the same, but you might not be getting what you’re paying for! I don’t want to throw shade on parts suppliers, but they will always sell you what they have in stock, and may not necessarily sell you what’s right unless you know what to ask for. Most parts suppliers are NOT Ferrari Judges, so they only sell what they think is correct or what they have been told. Some of this information is old, and different in today’s higher level of judging. If they have a lot of money tied up in old inventory, you can see the motivation to sell you their stock.
