Ferrari SI 330GT 2+2

Even though I’m still recovering from shoulder surgery, cars are still arriving at the shop. I explained to the owner of this car that I still have some cars that need my attention waiting for the strength to return to my dominant arm, but he felt since the car wasn’t running anyway, he might as well send it to Hudson NY.

This car is certainly not a show car, and some would consider rough, but I see a Vintage Ferrari that I wouldn’t be afraid to use and park anywhere without the fear the general public might damage it. The car has been painted several times in different colors, and perhaps the last owner tried to apply a clear coat over the old cracking paint, but now it too is starting to crack.

The interior was reupholstered in the past in a black vinyl, and the seats have lost some of the original shape as it came from the Factory.

The engine compartment is in similar condition to the the exterior, but most of the hardware and details remain. I can see some modifications to the radiator and ignition, but it’s my job to sort some of this out.

Before this car was sent to me, the owner sent the carburetors out to Mike Pierce to rebuilding, but even with the freshly rebuild carburetors, the owner couldn’t get the engine to run right. I’ve heard Mike Pierce once tell me half of the carburetor issues he sees is from ignition! To make a ICE engine run properly, you need fuel, spark, and compression. Since the carburetors were redone, it was time to check the other three.
